KIRŪ is a refined, Pan Asian dining experience rooted in precision, fire, and flavour. Drawing inspiration from Japanese culinary philosophy while embracing global influence, KIRŪ delivers a contemporary menu built around seasonality, and storytelling. Each dish is designed to be both intentional and expressive, balancing minimalism with bold, layered depth.

The experience at KIRŪ extends beyond the plate. From atmosphere to service, every detail is curated to create a seamless journey, where guests travel through the continent of Asia in a rhythm of flavour, & texture.

We don’t use seed oils in our food, only animal fats, coconut & olive oil, and we aim to use organically grown and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, including growing our own fruits & vegetables on the grounds themselves, making KIRŪ a genuinely healthy fine dining experience.

RAW Sushi Bar by KIRŪ is a pool side dining experience serving oysters, bubbles with our signature sushi & ceviche.

Private dining or function offerings – we offer private dining in our outdoor booths (contact restaurant for requirements and availability) and an immersive dining experience by Æther & Earth – ‘RIKŪ Chefs Table’ which combines taste, smell, touch, visuals, beverage and music pairing for R3500 per person for up to 12 people (minimum of 4)

RIKŪ O'Donnchu

Chef RIKŪ is a dynamic culinary innovator and creative entrepreneur based in Cape Town, South Africa. As the co-founder of Aether & Earth Consultancy, he operates at the intersection of food, culture, and experience design—specialising in restaurant concepts, high-end catering, and immersive dining environments that push beyond the conventional.

Having featured on THE BEST CHEF awards platform 3 years in a row, winning BEST HEAD CHEF at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, named INNOVATION CHEF OF THE YEAR at LUXE AWARDS & working as Executive Chef in Michelin Star Restaurants, there is no doubt that the Michelin Star Chef comes packing a culinary punch and some serious flavour flair, not to mention the precise presentation and playful execution of each dish.

With a style that blends refined technique and bold flavour intuition, RIKŪ is known for crafting menus that are both elevated and deeply expressive, often drawing inspiration from global influences while remaining grounded in local South African identity. His work spans from intimate fine dining experiences and degustation menus to large-scale events, weddings, and curated brand activations.

Beyond the kitchen, RIKŪ is a multidisciplinary creative—integrating music, storytelling, and atmosphere into his culinary projects. His vision consistently leans toward building spaces and experiences that connect people on a deeper level, whether through food, sound, or shared moments at the table.
